Winterfest Leeds!!

Aloha Vegans  ♡♡

Thought I would do a cheeky little post on Winterfest in Leeds!

Having been booted off our train we tried to make the
most of the queues for the bus
Winterfest is an awesome vegan festival that had over 150 stalls, talks and cookery demos in the city's town hall. Me and some of the Huddersfield Vegan crew volunteered our time to help the event run smoothly!
Our sheer joy at getting 4 seats together!!
The day started with a million..bazillion train issues that saw us manage to obtain a seat on a rail replacement bus!

It was a nightmare but we got to leeds in the end.
Childrens activity area
I was volunteering for the first 3 hours and did some door watching and  2 hours in the children's activity area, making Christmas cards and decorating vegan cookies!..yay..was so fun and I met some ace people!

After my volunteering shift finished I got to go and explore all the yummy food stalls and check out the offerings of the festival
There was a lot there and it was ace to see the place so super busy.
For my late lunch I had mock duck and noodles. It was delicious!

Volunteering and LOVING it
I then went and chatted with a few vegan folk and found some of my hudd vegan chums and we explored the stall and ate wayyyy to many things. My highlight being vegan churros and hot chocolate sauce!

I mainly purchased cake this time..so my 11 o clock herbal tea time will be epic this week!!

After the fair we popped to the German market which was super Christmassy but it was awful to see meat and non vegan things everywhere. The magic is lost when you see through all the pretty lights and notice that this event has caused a lot of suffering and harm to our animal Friends.

We then went and waited in a 40 minute queue for a rail replacement coach. We met nice people and I rick rolled and sang happy birthday to a random guy.

All the cake..and some chocolate..NOM
Overall it was great to volunteer at a festival and I felt that it enhanced the experience, I'll deffo be offering up my services to more vegan festivals in the future! There was a good variety of stalls and lots of great good to try. I look forward to the summer event in leeds next year! I think this particular festival was ace because I saw so many friends. I love this community so much and I love days like this that show me that the revolution is happening. I am not the only vegan and together we are a kind, compassionate and caring community!

being a carrot
40 mins in the longest queue...never been happier to see a coach!
Heavenly!!

One happy fat vegan with all the churros

Road to Damascus Huddersfield Vegan food Tasting

Aloha,

So me and the lovely Huddersfield Vegan group went to a mediterranean/Syrian food tasting event at a pop up shop in Huddersfield called the Road to Damascus. They sell a variety of food and offer a wide range of vegan food. The buffet we had with them was cooked by the family and included several tasty dishes (I wont embarrass myself trying to name them on here!!)
The family who cooked the food were the nicest/kindest people ever, they made us feel warm, welcome and cared for with their exceptional hospitality and amazing range of vegan dishes. I cant wait for the restaurant to open next year!!
Enjoy some pics of the lush food below:

To conclude it was lovely to try some new syrian food with the Huddersfield Vegans.
Perfect sunday..keep your eyes peeled for when they open!

VeganRibs goes to Brussels

Aloha Vegan Folks

So, ive been a very busy bunny, lots of changes, goodbyes and hellos exchanged in both my professional and personal life. Lots of great times and lots of not so lovely times, job interviews, setbacks and much more. Similarly my some of friends have also been going through their own series of unfortunate events so we decided that we should just get away...go be ourselfs, leave pressures behind and go on an adventure.

On November 1st Rachey and Lisa turned up at 9 am, having driven from Newcastle and picked me up for our adventure. I took my vegan passport, my passport, forgot my toothbrush, remembered my selfie stick and a huge bag of vegan goodies to keep us going on the trip.

The adventure began, lots of driving, lots of singing, lots of stopping to charge phones and eventually we made it to the euro tunnel! Literally driving on to a train was one of the wierest experiences, and also a rather unsettling one... 'were in a car, in a train, in a tunnel, under the sea...SHIT...

Cue Anxiety relieving oreos:

We arrived in France, stopped at Mc Donalds ( Yeah I Know..a vegan in Maccy D's..hilarious thought :/ ) charged our phones, ate some chips and drove to Brussels..the E40..the longest road ever!!! Haha arrived at our air B and B which was LUSH and quickly proceeded to drink the vegan friendly wine i bought with me. We made it..and we were in a different country!! we proceeded to go and have several beverages in Grand Place and put all our problems and the world problems to rights...It was during this time, under the influence of course that i realised that i could speak a bit of french. I got over confident and ordered food haha..So below is druken falafel...with no diary...man it was good!!! also..from this experience Im now learning to speak french...hahahah

The next day we went for breakfast and I found Vegan sarnies...one happy bunny...the classic hummus and veg, but it deffo helped to fill a need!!..We went shopping and i bought lots of dark chocolate and  cat bowl for Archi..gift wrapped to!! haha and we had just a lovely day.
At around 2 we got back in the car and made the longest journey back to Newcastle.
Was a great trip, full of great healing conversations, lots of wine, good company, adventure and so much dark chocolate. Id totally recommend a cheeky visit to Brussels, lovely people, and as a vegan i managed to find falafel and vegan sarnies! You will be fed and you will have the best time.

I have to thank my chummy Rachey for driving and basically being all types of kind with the trip.what a legend..I  Love her!! I came back feeling like myself again, knowing that its ok to cry when your sad and also knowing that adventure is never far away. I also came back to a job interview..

Vegan Ribs goes to Sky Apple

Aloha Vegans,
So this is a short and sweet post, basically declaring my love for Sky Apple in Heaton, Newcastle. My stunner of a fried Rachel took me for breakfast and it was AMAZING.
Sky apple is a veggie/Vegan cafe, the walls are painted like a sky and it has full on good vibes running through it. The staff were lovely, the food was amazing and very good value. I also took several slices of cake home with me, because trust, the cake is OUT OF THIS WORD ...its AMAZING

BREAKFASTTTTTT

After an extremely satisfying breakfast, we went next door to the deli, where the shop assistant was quite possibly the funniest guy I've ever met, he gave me free tasters of all the yummy food, which included home made cashew cheese and cake!! It was AMAZING

I got carried away....I got ALL the cake!!

To conclude, SKY APPLE is a MUST visit if you're in Newcastle,  for the cake, the breakfast and most importantly the hilarious guy at the deli!!!
