Huddersfield Vegans Pizza Party

Aloha Vegan lovelies <3

I'm on my blogging game tonight!! So recently Huddersfield Vegans had a pizza party and my favourite bar in town: Bar Maroc. Which by its title, I'm sure you can guess, is a cheeky marocan Bar Hidden above a club in Huddersfield. This bar is cosy, dark, smells like incense sticks, has the nicest staff and the rooftop terrace, which in the summer is my favourite place to be. They also have blankets..I love blankets.
I visited Maroc in the summer and assumed that their bases were Vegan, I since found out that they were'nt and myself and some other vegans requested that they are. Now they serve all their pizza on a vegan base and offer Vegan cheese!! A complete win for the Vegans of Huddersfield and a great gesture from Bar Maroc.

The pizzas they do is beyond tasty and is one of the best places to eat in town. Vegan pizza night has become a monthly event for the Huddersfield Vegans and its lush. This month we have 30 people attend from all ages/backgrounds, some people vegan, some just curious. Overall a lovely event to chill, eat good food and meet other vegans. Below are some pics I took of the event!

Overall a fab event and a great chance to look at the future of the group, we took some ideas and Im excited, as are others about the potential fun we can have as a collective group. Its lovely to spend time with like minded people, make friends and just have fun! Its exciting times for the Huddersfield Vegans so watch space. Also you can follow us on twitter @Huddvegans :)
Our next pizza party at Bar Maroc will be November the 9th! Hope to see some new faces there :)

London Vegfest 2015

Aloha Vegans

1 year on and I went to the place it all started for me!! Vegfest 2015 WAS AMAZING. So many nice things to eat, soooo many people, so many great things to buy and in general a jolly good time with a chummy.
I left Huddersfield on the friday morning and went to Camden for a chiller on the friday, saw an epic sunset then met my sister, brother in law and a friend to see one of my favourite bands ever. Mallory Knox.

Some good vegan options in Camden

 They were AMAZINGGGGGGGGG

Ok so now Mallory Loving is out the way..On to VEGEST <3 <3 <3 <3

The day started with a tired me hopping on a train in Kent with my dad to go to london. I arrived at Olympia and could'nt believe what i saw when i got out the tube station..THE BIGGEST QUEUE EVER

My friend Becky was still on her way so I went in..so glad I arrived early as it meant that I could browse before it got toooo crazy!! So many good sellers there and Organisations. The first thing I had was a red velvet Ms Cupcake. It was beyond beautiful..I cant even explain! I ended up eating it in the queue outside which I had to rejoin when my chummy arrived!

Me and bex in the BIGGEST QUEUE
We then ended up browsing, looking at all the stalls and just taking it all in. There was a lot to take in!! It was honestly amazing. Although the queues and the busyness was a pain, it was also exciting to see how much the event had grown since last year and how big veganism has become in just that short time. I made a consious effort to go the veganuary stand, this is where the journey began for me last year. It was speaking to Clea and taking up the vegan january challange that has gotten me here..to a whole year Vegan. When I met her last year, I had no idea that her encouragement and practical approach to veganism would have such a lasting impact. We naturally had a hug and a selfie and I am so greatful that I got to say a massive thank you to Clea and the Veganuary team!

Clea and I..This lovely lady encouraged me to go Vegan!! THANK YOUUUUUU

For lunch my aim was to find the shortest queue..that was a challenge, lots of hungry vegans and so much choice. Luckily I found some lovely street style food and went for  some curry..cant ever go wrong with curry!!

one of my favourite stall was the All glamour no guts stall... they sold vegan accessories and apparel..and its all beautiful! I bought this necklace and I'm in love with it. I've decided that I'm NEVER taking it off!! ha

Something AMAZING also happened...I met one of my IDOLS...a true Vegan hero.. TIMOTHY SHIEFF...he is an amazing athlete, youtuber and just a generally lovely human being who is full of compassion and the highest morals. I love it. He was the nicest person, we chatted, i fangirled..it was awesome..I just need to get a Nagev top :) :) (His clothing line ethics and antics..check em out)

Me and Tim Shieff!!!!!!

There was a lot more stalls, food samples and a lot of money spent (not god for my looming unemployment) but i figured hey..when in rome...haha so below is my haul. I have tried a few of the products now, the veganaise is the best thing ever...so damn good..the falafel is a standard purchase and the Tofurky products are awesome. I also joined the vegan society :) :)

The best haul everrrr

Overall Vegfest 2015 was awesome. I got some great food, met some amazing people and in general had a good time. there were however some of the ost epic queues I've ever seen and at times the busyness of it all got a bit much. There were also some issues with some stallholders such as GOSSH were there, yet the fund animal testing and also the Primal pantry were promoting the eating of animals and Diary on their literature. Those were epic fails on Vegfests part, but they delt with it well. As for the queues, i'm happy veganisim is growing, but clearly..a bigger venue is needed.
Overal vegfest was amazing!! Bring on brighton!!

Long time..No Blog.....A very Vegan Summer...updates

Aloha Vegans

Yes Yes Yes..I have been a massive fail of a person, not looking after my beloved blog..since July! (Bows head in shame).
The truth is that life has taken over, being vegan has just become life now if you get me. Ive not discovered anything new and amazing, its just life. Being Vegan is just so much simpler that it was when I first started!

So heres the summer in a nutshell....

I have turned 25 and my parents sent me the cutest pink vegan cake..delivered t my door as a surprise...i may have done a little cry! I also went pottery painting with my chummys and i got taken to Las Iguanas a surprise for my birthday lunch..the had a VEGAN MENU...was so nice..MY FRIENDS ARE EPIC.
I also got my nose pierced ..because..why not Im 25!

I also attended the wedding of one my dearest friends this summer. Catherine, who was my childhood chummy got married to the lovely Ryan, she looked stunning.. I had a Lindybop dress and there was vegan food and VEGAN WINE...safe to say I indulged!!

Nom tastic Vegan food at a wedding..with VEGAN WINE..

Me looking all summery!

I also got more vegan ink this summer. A treble clef and a crotchet behind my ear, because anyone who knows me..knows that i always have music on..if im not playing or listening to it..i'm singing it!
And a semi-colon with a heart to represent my anxiety and how the ones I love are always there for me when times get tough! The semi colon project is also a national initiative to spread mental health awareness.

New Vegan Ink

What else have I been up to this summer...hmmmm...
I spent a week in Kent catching up with everyone, went to Bletchly Park..if you've seen the imitation game and are a geek like moir you'll understand awesome that is!
I also went and caught up with friends, family, ate good food and even went to the seaside. It was perfect!! Summer seemed to pass me in the blink of an eye this year. I think its because I'd started the new dream job and put much of my energy into it!

Seaside fun with my dad

Bletchly Park

Dev time <3

Catching up with Ellie

Fun times with Becky

So to conclude the Summer..WAS AWESOME..I'm very lucky to be surrounded by such epic people and to have had so much fun, both in work and outside of it. Visits to Kent, meals out, trips, simply watching tv in PJs for a day. All of these things make me SUCH a blessed human being!
I've enjoyed all the fun vegan food too:

SSOV Haul

Bar Maroc Vegan pizza

Me and the kitty <3
Vegan Mac and Cheese

Ive upped my sushi game!!

So most of this post has been full of positivity, and it was lush to write such nice happy things, but from the summer came autumn and with that came bad news.
The dreaded word everyone hates in the third sector:
Redundancy.
My dream job...will become half time soon...which basically means that i have to search for another job. :( :(

Its been quite frankly SHIT...I love what I do, but its time to find another job again...my friends again have been by my side this week, bringing me vegan chocolate and wine! (what top chummies) and now its back to the job hunt!
I've dyed my hair a more conservative Red colour for interviews and such, ive been finding my way back to meditation and just trying to focus negative energy into something vaguely positive.
Chin up ribs...I'm sure it will be ok!..in the mean time..i have stuff to look forward to...Mallory knox and Vegfest next week...there will be a MASSIVE blog post and maybe even a cheeky YouTube video!

Thanks for reading beautiful people!

Peace out vegan lovelies
