A Very Vegan Easter

Aloha Vegan friends..and a Happy Easter to you!

Archi presenting me with an egg hahaha
My Easter this year started off slow and lonely, sat in bed watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch  missing my family, thinking of last year when I was flying around Harry Potter world drinking butter beer with my daddykins.

So yep, I didn't have high expectations, I had a little pitty party then remembered that Archi (my cat) had bought me an Easter Egg from asda yesterday!!..As if she went to all that effort and just knew that chocolate would cheer me!! haha
I would have inserted more up close pictures of the egg, but It seems to have disappeared..no idea where!!! All I can see is that asda freefrom Easter eggs are epic..and very moreish!

So after a whole series of Sabrina, my vegan Chummy Linn Boo invited me around and cooked me a nut-roast, all home made, completely tasty and made with pure vegan love (and insane effort with only one working shoulder atm!!) Without the Huddersfield Vegans, my beloved group, we would never have met, so if I have anything to thank veganism for (I have soo much to thank veganism for!!!) making fiends..FAMILY is one of them!
Me and the Mighty Boo, soo happy to have a vegan roast, epic chatter and wine!
THE Roast <3
So the above plate of beautiful food contained;

  • Homemade Nut roast, with chestnuts in..super yummmmmy
  • Leeks
  • Beans
  • Carrots cooked in maple syrup
  • Gravy
  • Roast Potatoes
  • and flipping sweet potatoes

OM TO THE NOM NOM

Overall, a beautiful meal, with an awesome friend, totally made my Easter!!...Yay for vegan food, yay for vegan friends!!

Hope you all celebrated with cruelty free chocolate and a cruelty free roast, with people you care about!!

Thanks for reading

Much Love

Vegan Ribs: General foody stuff, baking, tattoos, life catch ups..

Aloha Vegans <3

So I know I have posted like a million blogs In the last day or 2, but I guess its nice to do a random one with pictures of the things i've been up to, some food porn and just some general bits and bats that don't seem to fit anywhere else.

With people leaving at work, naturally i got baking and made all the cake and cookies and brownies, whilst watching disney...is there a better combination than baking and disney? I'm not sure there is!! The end results im pretty proud of!!

Disney and Baking!

Also been finding time to relax and keep myelf busy, since i now only work 2.5 days a week..i have stupid amounts of free time to kill. Costa and a magazine has been a favourite to get myself out the flat.

Vegan Life mag and a costa...Relaxation time for me :)
I've also been making the best hot chocolates..cos its winter, its cold and this girl likes t get cosy!!

I also got a new tattoo..to celebrate getting a NEW JOB!! which is bloody exciting, 2 months of worry, sadness and stressing, but things have come together nicely!

and well..just losts of pics of vegan food, parents visiting, cocktails..and happy fun times!.A month ago..I was so deeply sad, Im really happy that life seems to be on the up again!!!

Extra time off means more time for making Kale and Quinoa based foods..

Had a cheeky trip to the Global Tribe Cafe in leeds following a job interview and the successful completion of my Christmas Shopping! I had this epic burger..OMG IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD
Another hight of single has been reached. I discovered CAT MUSIC..music that has been written by scientists for cats...Archi loves it, she has been so relaxed by listening to calming kitty music in bed. I quite like it too!!

London Vegfest 2015

Aloha Vegans

1 year on and I went to the place it all started for me!! Vegfest 2015 WAS AMAZING. So many nice things to eat, soooo many people, so many great things to buy and in general a jolly good time with a chummy.
I left Huddersfield on the friday morning and went to Camden for a chiller on the friday, saw an epic sunset then met my sister, brother in law and a friend to see one of my favourite bands ever. Mallory Knox.

Some good vegan options in Camden

 They were AMAZINGGGGGGGGG

Ok so now Mallory Loving is out the way..On to VEGEST <3 <3 <3 <3

The day started with a tired me hopping on a train in Kent with my dad to go to london. I arrived at Olympia and could'nt believe what i saw when i got out the tube station..THE BIGGEST QUEUE EVER

My friend Becky was still on her way so I went in..so glad I arrived early as it meant that I could browse before it got toooo crazy!! So many good sellers there and Organisations. The first thing I had was a red velvet Ms Cupcake. It was beyond beautiful..I cant even explain! I ended up eating it in the queue outside which I had to rejoin when my chummy arrived!

Me and bex in the BIGGEST QUEUE
We then ended up browsing, looking at all the stalls and just taking it all in. There was a lot to take in!! It was honestly amazing. Although the queues and the busyness was a pain, it was also exciting to see how much the event had grown since last year and how big veganism has become in just that short time. I made a consious effort to go the veganuary stand, this is where the journey began for me last year. It was speaking to Clea and taking up the vegan january challange that has gotten me here..to a whole year Vegan. When I met her last year, I had no idea that her encouragement and practical approach to veganism would have such a lasting impact. We naturally had a hug and a selfie and I am so greatful that I got to say a massive thank you to Clea and the Veganuary team!

Clea and I..This lovely lady encouraged me to go Vegan!! THANK YOUUUUUU

For lunch my aim was to find the shortest queue..that was a challenge, lots of hungry vegans and so much choice. Luckily I found some lovely street style food and went for  some curry..cant ever go wrong with curry!!

one of my favourite stall was the All glamour no guts stall... they sold vegan accessories and apparel..and its all beautiful! I bought this necklace and I'm in love with it. I've decided that I'm NEVER taking it off!! ha

Something AMAZING also happened...I met one of my IDOLS...a true Vegan hero.. TIMOTHY SHIEFF...he is an amazing athlete, youtuber and just a generally lovely human being who is full of compassion and the highest morals. I love it. He was the nicest person, we chatted, i fangirled..it was awesome..I just need to get a Nagev top :) :) (His clothing line ethics and antics..check em out)

Me and Tim Shieff!!!!!!

There was a lot more stalls, food samples and a lot of money spent (not god for my looming unemployment) but i figured hey..when in rome...haha so below is my haul. I have tried a few of the products now, the veganaise is the best thing ever...so damn good..the falafel is a standard purchase and the Tofurky products are awesome. I also joined the vegan society :) :)

The best haul everrrr

Overall Vegfest 2015 was awesome. I got some great food, met some amazing people and in general had a good time. there were however some of the ost epic queues I've ever seen and at times the busyness of it all got a bit much. There were also some issues with some stallholders such as GOSSH were there, yet the fund animal testing and also the Primal pantry were promoting the eating of animals and Diary on their literature. Those were epic fails on Vegfests part, but they delt with it well. As for the queues, i'm happy veganisim is growing, but clearly..a bigger venue is needed.
Overal vegfest was amazing!! Bring on brighton!!

Thai sakon Huddersfield

Thai Sakon in Huddersfield!

I was invited to tea with some work chummies and it was decided that we would go to Thai Sakon in Huddersfield. Its one of those places that I've been past several times and always wanted to go in.
I had no idea how vegan friendly it would be!
Overall IT WAS FANTASTIC and I would go there again. The staff were extremely helpful, the wood was lovely and it had great vibes. If you're in Huddersfield I would 100% recommend it :)

Very good deal!!!

All VEGAN (apart from the egg rice)

For the starter I ordered corn fritters and my chummy ordered spring rolls..we did half and half each..they were soo yummmy!!

For the main I had some sweet and sour tofu and jasmine rice.
It was all super tasty!! And we left..VERY FULL
